Labor law posters free to Missouri employers
State Representative Barney Fisher, R-125th District, says that although companies are allowed to sell 2006 Labor Law posters, employers can obtain the required posters free of charge from the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.
Fisher said local businesses had reported receiving notification that they need to buy the posters, and that some of these are stamped "Final Notice."
Fisher said he investigated the matter and believes "It's important for everyone to know that this is not a scam, but is misleading."
Fisher said he'd contacted the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, and found out that companies sending these notices are legally selling them, because they are adding value to the posters by laminating or framing them.
"While the service they are providing is nice and may be of value to some businesses, business owners should know they they can obtain the required posters free of cost," Fisher said in a press release.
At the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations Web site, http://www.dolir.-mo.gov/posters2.htm, posters required by state and federal law are described.
Employers can print the posters or call the department for copies at (573) 751-3215.
