Fisher plans to run for re-election

Herald-Tribune
Nevada, Mo. -- Before a crowd of about 60 people gathered at the Nevada/Vernon County Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon at Sunrise restaurant on Friday, State Representative Barney Fisher announced that he intends to run for re-election for a second term in the Missouri Legislature -- a statement that brought raucous cheers of support from most of those in attendance.
Fisher, who was elected in 2004 to fill the open, 125th-District seat vacated by Jerry King has been active in Vernon County and has participated in many local events -- especially those relating to area veterans.
Fisher is retired from the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a pilot and earned the rank of lieutenant colonel.
He has served on the Workforce Development and Workplace Safety Committee, Veterans Committee, Agricultural Policy Committee, and Appropriations -- Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Clearly pleased by the warm reception gleaned by his announcement, Fisher said, "Thank you all very much for your support, and I hope you'll continue that support."
Missouri's 125th District serves constituents in Bates and Vernon counties.
