Nevada IMPACT tourism board to meet tonight

Tuesday, January 24, 2006

The city's IMPACT tourism board plans to meet at 7 o'clock tonight, in city council chambers, located inside the city's public safety building at Ash and Austin, Nevada. Tonight's agenda centers around grant applications, with several groups and individuals making presentations relating to projects they hope will be funded by the city's hotel/motel tax. Judy Knowles will request funding for bunting and flags, to line Austin Boulevard with Flags in honor of veterans on Memorial Day; Main Street is seeking funding for a brochure, a craft fair and a Web site, via separate applications; the Nevada Griffons are seeking funding; Missouri Northern Pecan Growers are seeking funding for a pecan festival and buyer's forum tournament; and Nevada Wrestling Club is seeking funding. Another application, Southwest Missouri Tournament of Champions NBC Baseball Tournament is to be presented directly to the Nevada City Council.

Also on the agenda is a service agreement between the city of Nevada and the Nevada/Vernon County Area Chamber of Commerce.
