Officers look into incident involving injured teen

Officers from the Vernon County Sheriff's Office and the Nevada Police Department continue to investigate an incident involving a local teen.

Local residents called the Vernon County Sheriff's Office at about 9:15 a.m., yesterday. when the teen, a 17-year-old girl, showed up at a home on BB Highway about 7 miles outside Nevada, said Vernon County Sheriff Ron Peckman.

She was treated for some superficial wounds, which Peckman indicated were not serious and did not require stitches, and the teen told officers she did not remember what had happened or how she had come to be there.

Her parents had reported her missing earlier that morning.

Peckman said several people have been interviewed during the investigation, which continues, in conjunction with the Nevada Police Department.

The teen's vehicle was found later in Nevada, at Izaak Walton lake.
