American Legion thanks community for support
Dear editor:
Leon Ogier American Legion Post No. 2, Nevada, thanks you, Vernon County, for making our 74th annual children's Christmas tree and Christmas dinner a success.
The faces of the children brighten up the world as it did here at our American Legion post on Christmas morning. More than 100 children received gifts, apples, oranges and candy. Two lucky children won a new bicycle -- one boy and one girl.
Thank you donors; the anonymous donors, as well as Wal-Mart, Metz Bank, the Athenas, Jeff Day, William McCaffree, ladies auxiliary Eagles, Erwin Peterson DDS,, B.T. Eaton Jr., Donald Wagner, Tom Addington, Harold Kenny, Bob Hover, Gene Smith, Elda F "Slim" Turner, Gene Web, Mayrl Peterson, Mary Wilson, James Hackney, Garry Richard, Lawrence Robbins, Dianas MFWC, Vinyard's Farm and Home, Lynn Ewing, Beau Phrog and the karaokers, Pizza Hut, vice commander Ronald W. Browne, veterans of underage military service, Missouri members; Yvonne Hernandaz, Shirly White, Barbara Thompson, the Brad Otter family, Bill Otter, the customers who donated to our fish hook fund-raiser, all our friends and patrons who participated in our Dig Deep for the Children event, purchased tickets in our shotgun drawing and stein contest and the help in filling our donation cans.
A very special thank you to our soldiers who had just returned from Iraq and a special to all the service members who serve this great country around the world,
A special thanks to the American Legion members and the ladies auxiliary who put in countless hours and donated money, for their input above and beyond the call of duty.
