Oakes arrested on charges alleging child molestation

Thomas Eugene Oakes, 35, Nevada, was arrested Feb. 19, on four counts of the felony B charge of child molestation.

Sgt. Jimmie Dye of the Nevada Police Department signed a complaint stating that a 10-year-old girl said Oakes would molest her and her 7-year-old sister. The two girls were interviewed at the Children's Center.

When Oakes was interviewed he said he was checking for sores on the girls and applying medicine. He said he didn't know what kind of medicine he was applying.

Three of the four counts are alleged to have occured between Feb. 14, 2002, and Dec. 31, 2005, with one of the counts occuring between Jan. 1, 2006, and Jan. 31, 2006.

Bond for Oakes was set at $100,000.
