Bronaugh splits with NEVC, falls to Dadeville
The Bronaugh Wildcat basketball teams split a boys-girls doubleheader with Northeast Vernon County last week, then got swept by Dadeville Tuesday.
Friday it was the Bronaugh boys beating the Knights 48-39.
Will Daniels scored 17 points to lead Bronaugh, and Joshua Shaw added 12 as the Wildcats held off a fourth-quarter rally from the scrappy Knights.
Kirk Haddix led NEVC with eight points.
In the girls' contest, NEVC upset the Lady Wildcats 36-35 in overtime.
Darci Baer led all scorers with 17 points, as the Lady Knights overcame a five-point deficit going into the fourth quarter to force the extra period.
Morgan Hinkle and Jessica Langford each scored 10 to lead the Lady Wildcats.
Tuesday, Bronaugh visited Dadeville.
The Dadeville boys dropped the Wildcats 58-48.
Travis McMasters led all scorers with 23 points for Dadeville, which also got 17 from Brock Cobie.
Nick Judd led Bronaugh with 20 points, and Daniels added 12.
The Lady Wildcats fell 33-28, as Dadeville kept the Bronaugh offense in check all game.
Langford led Bronaugh with 10 points, while Lachelle Brown led Dadeville with nine.
Bronaugh will close the regular season Friday when they host Hume. The Bronaugh boys are 10-14 this season, while the Lady Wildcats are 6-17.
