Sheriff investigation theft in Sheldon area
Today Vernon County Sheriff Les Hunt was investigating a burglary in a farmhouse five miles northeast of Sheldon.
Upon his arrival home from Illinois last night, Kenneth Seaton discovered that burglars had entered his farm home and stolen clothing, bedclothes, a 12-gauge shotgun and a small radio. Some of the clothing was packed in five barracks bags and two sea bags, one of which bore Seaton's name and Air Force serial number.
Sheriff Hunt said today that entrance to the house was gained by forcing the rear door, and that several trips were necessary in order to make away with the loot.
The Seatons, recently moved here from California, had been in Illinois since March 5, and no date could be set for the burglary.
