Youth wrestling tourney

The Nevada Youth Wrestling Club competed in the district tournament in Neosho Saturday.

In the 8-year-old category, Joshua Hadler was second in the 75-pound class. Regar Hardin was third at 65 pounds. Chance Mays was eighth at 65 pounds, and Skyler Scotten was eighth at 60 pounds. Dylan Hyder, Zane Shepherd and Caleb Shanks also competed.

In the 12-year-old category, Slade Stiles and Sam Ellifrits both won their weights. Stiles won at 60 pounds, Ellifrits at 190.

Tanner Charles was third and True Beisly fourth at 70 pounds. Zach Shepherd was fourth at 85 pounds. Colby Smith was fourth at 125. Gage Brooks placed sixth at 100 pounds. Lucas Denman also wrestled in this age group.

In the 14-year-old age group, Todd Brier won his 140-pound class. Trevor Fast was second at 150, and Ben Slates was second at 275.

The top six placings in each weight class advance to regionals in Ozark, Saturday. The top four in the region in each class move on to state in Columbia, March 24-26.
