Bonnie Lou Swick
Bonnie Lou Swick, 84, Lawton, Okla., died Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Fort Sill, Okla. She was born on April 27, 1921, in Nevada, Mo., to Benjamin W. and Laura Ruby (Endicott) Combs. She married Vernon Kenneth Swick Sr. in Nevada, on July 27, 1941. He preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1998.
She was studying to be a nurse before she was married. After her marriage, she worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" in a McDonnell aircraft plant in the Los Angeles, Calif., area. She was an active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Elona L. Sullivan of Boise City, Okla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Vernon K. Swick Jr. and Nancy E. of Rose Hill, Kan.; four grandchildren, Cathleen L. Sullivan of Denver, Colo., Carol Dawn Sullivan of Cody, Wyo., Jeffrey T. Swick of St. Louis, Mo., and Eric R. Swick of Rose Hill; three great-grandchildren, Ryan C. Taylor, Reagan C. Taylor and R. Caleb Taylor; and many other nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband and a brother, George W. Combs, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 21, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Saville officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.
