Nevada's Erik DeLaney returns a shot during Tuesday's home match against Neosho. DeLaney and the Tigers fell to their Southwest Conference rivals, 7-2.

NEVADA, Mo. -- Playing their first match in a week because of inclement weather, the Nevada Tigers had trouble with the Neosho Wildcats Tuesday, falling in a team tennis dual, 7-2.

"It was closer than the score indicated," Nevada head coach Dennis Pendrak said. "But we didn't play very well."

Pendrak said all of the players on the team were not moving around the court as well as he expects.

"We tended to play a baseline strategy," he said.

Taylor Hall was the only Tiger to win his individual match, topping Chad Dwyer in number-three singles, 8-5.

Hall teamed with Ryan Kimbrough to win the number-one doubles contest as well, 9-7 over Lucas Merino and Spencer Farley.

In number-one singles, Kimbrough fell to Merino 8-2.

Justdan Lockwood was knocked off in number-two singles, as Farley won 8-1.

Neosho's Alex Barnes handled Nevada's Jake Holmes at number four, 8-3.

Justin Fox topped the Tigers' Erik DeLaney 8-3 at number five.

The final singles match saw Neosho's Cameron Tucker slip by Taylor Chapman 8-1.

In doubles, the Tigers lost at number two by an 8-4 margin. The number three match was an 8-2 Neosho victory.

"We think we can beat them," Pendrak said. "If our kids can play a good tennis match, I like our chances."

The Tigers host Bolivar tomorrow in another dual.
