Nevada places third in junior varsity track meet

The Nevada Tiger track team participated in a ninth- and 10th-grade meet in Carthage Wednesday, placing third in both boys' and girls' team competition.
Nevada came away winning six events and taking second in seven.
Megan Smith won the girls 100-meter hurdles, with a time of 17.92 seconds. Molly Ferree won the girls high jump by clearing 4 feet, 10 inches.
Erica Becker won the girls triple jump by leaping 30-1.
Dan Lovinger won the boys high jump by clearing 5-6.
Jacob Cherry won the boys triple jump by reaching 40-0.
Tyler Werner won the boys pole vault clearing 12-0.
Nevada had two relay teams finish second. The girls 400 relay team of Taylor Means, LeAnn Stone, Katelyn Brier and Smith was second, as was the boys 400 team of Ronnie Herda, Mitch Pent, Lovinger and Cherry.
Becker was second in the girls 100 hurdles and Lovinger was second in the boys 110 hurdles.
Means was second in the girls 100, and Katie Hughes was second in the girls 1,600.
Stone was second in the girls 300 hurdles.
Brier was fourth in the girls 400, and Pent was fourth in the boys pole vault.
Renee Tabor was fifth in the girls triple jump. Also taking fifth were Stone in the girls 200, Pent in the boys 100 and Jacob Query in the boys 1,600.
Wendie Lyda placed sixth in the girls 100 and Chris Bray was sixth in the boys 800.
Nevada's varsity team will be competing in Girard, Kan., at a meet tomorrow.
