Thomas Edward Woolverton

Thomas Edward Woolverton, 61, Garden Grove, Calif., formerly of Nevada, Mo., passed away June 27, 2006. He was born July 3, 1944, to Edward and Fern Woolverton in Kansas City, Mo.

Thomas was a 1962 graduate of Nevada High School. He attended the University of Missouri in Kansas City and Friends University in Wichita, Kan. He was employed at the Veterans Hospital in Long Beach, Calif., at the time of his death. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Thomas served his country with the Marine Corps in 1963, as a Sgt. disbursement clerk during the Vietnam War. During his stay, Tom received the Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendations Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1969.

Survivors include his brother James Byron "J.B." Woolverton and his wife, Bobby of Nevada; five sisters, Cheryl Smith and her husband, Jim, of Nevada, Connie Jackson and her husband, Larry, Bonnie Brundridge, Carol Nelson and her husband, Larry, all of Springfield, Mo., and Joan Phillips and her husband, Romie, of Moundville, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Byron and Fern Olive Woolverton.

A private family memorial service will be held at Moore Cemetery in Nevada.
