Comets top ACCC

The Cottey Comets opened the 2006 volleyball campaign with a come-from-behind victory over Allen County Community College in Iola, Kan., Tuesday.

The Comets won 29-31, 31-29, 30-25, 30-27, despite trailing in all four games.

"It seemed like we were behind the whole time," Cottey head coach Marla Kannady said.

Kannady said Cottey fought back each time, winning on the strength of team work.

"We're playing as a unit, we work well together. If we keep that up we're going to win," she said.

Tara Cooper and Lindsay Rader excelled in the passing game for Cottey, while Hristina Denic supplied much of the offensive power and Dominica Sena led the way defensively.
