The process of locating and hiring a new Nevada city manager is moving ahead.

Since former city manager Craig Hubler resigned in April, interim managers have been holding the fort until a permanent replacement can be found. At first, former economic development director Sam Foursha took the reins of the city, but he resigned later to accept a position in Iraq. Harlan Moore currently holds the post of interim city manager.

Early last month a work session whas held in which representatives of the Liberty-based Robert J. Saunders Organization, a search firm hired by the city to help find a new city manager, to narrow down exactly what type of person is needed for the post.

On Aug. 30, the city council met with Robert Saunders to review the 48 applications that have been submitted. During that meeting the council narrowed that number of applicants to three or four candidates who will be invited to come to Nevada for interviews in late September.

Saunders said Thursday afternoon that of those the applicants that the council likes the most might be asked to come back for a second interview. Names of those candidates have not yet been released. Saunders said that the process of locating a new city manager would likely be completed in early October.

The search is slated to cost the city about $11,600 for the Robert J. Saunders Organization to conduct a search for a city manager, with the city being directly billed for advertising expenses in addition to that fee.
