The Nevada Lady Tiger softball team finished second in the El Dorado Springs tournament Saturday, falling in the championship game to Lamar, 5-1.

Nevada's only run came off a solo home run by Afton Baldwin, her second of the tournament and third in four games.

Nevada had knocked off the hosts in the first game of the tournament, 15-3. It was the third time Nevada has beaten El Dorado Springs in three meetings this season.

Rachel Kennedy was the winning pitcher in the first game. Baldwin hit a three-run blast in that contest, a line drive that carried over the fence.

The Lady Tigers took on Stockton in their second game of the tourney, again posting an impressive victory.

Nevada won 14-1, as they pounded out a season high 18 hits.

Senior Jessica Long led the offensive onslaught by going 3-for-3.

The win gave Nevada first place in their pool, and set up the title contest with Lamar.

It was a quick turnaround for Nevada after the tournament, as they traveled to Humansville for a game Monday.

The Lady Tigers needed only five innings to invoke the mercy rule against Humansville, winning 12-0.

Katelyn Brier and Rachel Kennedy both pitched in the game.

Brier went three innings and struck out four. Kennedy went two innings and struck out a pair.

Humansville managed only one hit and one walk against Nevada in the contest.

The junior varsity also won, beating Humansville 6-0 in a three-inning game.

Nevada will be at Webb City Thursday as they resume Southwest Conference play.
