The Ambassador Company, a subsidiary publishing company of Goodwill Publishing, has been distributing morality books for more than 40 years. These books are offered as free resources for local school districts that have local sponsors.

According to Taryn Sellers, a customer service representative for Goodwill Publishing, the company has been offering the book for free for more than four decades.

The book is geared toward first graders, called "My Favorite Book" touted as a beautifully illustrated volume expressive of moral values.

Local principal and first grade teacher Nancy Coffer received the book and she believes that they are wonderful.

"I think that it covers all areas, social studies, religion and teachers are happy because it's a free resource,"said Coffer.

She lets her students take their books home with them. Upon first receiving the books, the children wrote thank you notes to the area sponsors who made the free resource material possible.

Local sponsors included, Super 8 Motel of Nevada, Metz Banking Co., Nevada Elks Lodge No. 564, Nevada Regional Medical Center, Shelter Insurance Company and Ferry Funeral Home.

"The books teach character." said Sellers.

Each unit of the book can aid students with units or chapters ranging from healthy bodies to safety and learning.

"It's rewarding when you hear a student get in their car and remind everyone to buckle up." said Coffer.

These books are used to teach character, tied in to lessons and are even serving as guidelines for parents with younger children. These particular books are geared towards first graders, but Goodwill Publishing also sends out books aimed at children in the fourth grade. It's been done every year for more than 40 years, teaching children how to listen to each other, take care of their bodies and understand the ideas associated with morality.

The "My favorite books" were distributed to St. Mary's school in Nevada, Nevada R-5 Parents as Teachers, and Calvary Christian School.

Local businesses and schools are getting together and promoting the future by building character.
