NHS cross country fifth

The Nevada Tiger cross country team was in Pittsburg, Kan., Thursday, where they finished fifth in a meet with 17 schools.
Nevada scored 168 points. The winner was Paola (Kan.) with 65 points. Parsons (Kan.), Chanute (Kan.) and Joplin rounded out the top four.
Trevor Hinkle continued his impressive season by finishing third individually in the boys' varsity race.
Hinkle ran the 5,000 meter course in 17 minutes, 24 seconds.
Mark Reed was the second Nevada runner, with a time of 18:39. That was 34th overall.
Jacob Query was 38th overall with a time of 18:51.
Nash Smith was 46th overall with a time of 19:04.
Chris Bray was right behind Smith was a time of 19:08.
Ty Lero finished 58th, with a time of 19:47.
In the girls' varsity race, a 4,000 meter course, Kadee Hughes was Nevada's top runner, with a time of 19:13. That was 33rd overall.
Bethany Moore was 44th, with a time of 20:05.
In the boys' junior varsity race it was Todd Brier finishing 29th with a time of 21:17.
Pat Barnett was 41st, with a time of 22:37. The JV ran the exact same course as the varsity.
The girls' JV race had three Nevada runners in it.
Emily Watts had a time of 20:46, 20th overall.
Daven Smith was 22nd overall, with a time of 20:58.
Allie Query was 27th overall, with a time of 21:49.
Two Nevada Middle School harriers also ran the 5,000 meter course.
Stephen Jenkins won the middle school meet with a time of 19:05.
Mike Bray was 32nd, with a time of 21:39.
The cross country team will be in Carl Junction for the Carl Junction Invitational, Thursday.
