Local musicians making a mark

BluRoc Band, comprised of local Nevada talent, is making a name in the tri-county area. After a bit of a sabbatical in 2005, the group started playing together again in February and recently landed the Friday night street dance performance at the Black Walnut Festival in Stockton. Specializing in classic rock, BluRoc showcases singers Dani Fine, Scott Theis and Russ Baker. Theis also plays guitar.
Fine is a registered nurse at Nevada Regional Medical Center. Theis' wife is also a nurse and he takes pride in being a stay-at-home dad to his three children. Baker is the co-owner of the Tobacco Shack and Camo Valley Paint Ball in Nevada, while Tom Millirons of Sheldon plays the drums and works at Murphy farms. Mike Smith plays the bass and is co-owner of Osage Motor Service; and Kenny Jordon, a Nevada native, became a part of the group about two months ago.
The band will perform Saturday, Oct. 21, at Great Oaks Restaurant and Lounge, El Dorado Springs. Call (417) 876-2211, after 4 p.m., for information.
