Ronald L. Culbertson
Ronald L. Culbertson, 53, Kansas City, Mo., passed away on Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo., after a short battle with cancer. He was born on May 6, 1953, in Nevada, to Delmer Lee Culbertson and Bonnie Lou Hacker Culbertson.
Ron was a 1971 graduate of Nevada High School and a 1975 graduate of the University of Missouri in Columbia with a bachelor's degree in agriculture. Ron was the first recipient of the John Tompkins Scholarship Fund and graduated with honors from the University of Missouri. Ron served as a former State Treasurer of the Missouri FFA. Ron also served multiple years on the Missouri State Fair Board and was involved in numerous state and local organizations. Ron touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with in a way only Ron could do.
Ron worked most of his career as a financial advisor to several automotive dealerships in the Kansas City area. At the time of his death he was employed with the Molle Automotive Group in Kansas City. Ron also owned R2 Auto Sales with his lifetime friend Randy Davis.
Ron is survived by his son Christopher Culbertson and his friend Kathy; two daughters, Jennifer Wright and her husband Cory, and Angie Culbertson and Tommy Moore, all of the Kansas City area. Ron is also survived by a godchild, Rachel Grimaldi of the home, whom Ron took into his life and home as a daughter at an early age; his grandchildren who were so special to him, Mark Anthony Grandstaff, Taylor, Tyler and Brennan Moore, and Mackenzie Wright, all of the Kansas City area; his mother and stepfather, Bonnie and Cliff McDaniel, Nevada; two brothers, Rodger Culbertson, El Dorado Springs, Mo., and Rick Culbertson and his wife, Dianne, Nevada; one stepbrother, Michael McDaniel, Baltimore, Md.; lifetime friend, Randy Davis, of the home; Randy's mother, Pat Davis, Kansas City; Sandy Johnson, of the home; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of very good friends. Ron was preceded in death by his father Delmer Culbertson.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 16, at Mt. Vernon Cemetery near Dederick, Mo., with Dr. William Cox officiating. Friends may call now and until 12:30 p.m., on Saturday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
