The Nevada Tiger wrestling team continued to find success on the mat this weekend as they placed second at the Belton Holiday Classic.

The Tigers had two winners as they tallied 327 points, getting narrowly beaten by hosting Belton, which had 340.5 points.

Cole Bond and Spenser Daniels each won their weight class and seven others finished in the top five.

Bond won the 152-pound class, while Daniels won the 189-pound division. Both are juniors.

Mason Heard, Ryan Herda and Jerrod Alexander each placed third in their respective weights.

Also all juniors, Heard was third at 112, Herda was at 215 and Alexander at 275.

Drew Shepherd, a senior, was fourth at 119 pounds.

Matt Kennedy (145 pounds), Josh Palmer (140) and Lawrence Shouse (171) each placed fifth.

The Belton Holiday Classic is the final varsity wrestling competition for the Tigers until they visit McDonald County Jan. 4, in a Southwest Conference dual.

The Tigers are unbeaten in duals this season (3-0) and now have a pair of top-2 finishes in the only two tournaments they have competed in.
