Dean Garvin Franklin

Dean Garvin Franklin, 79, Leavenworth, Kan., formerly of Nevada, Mo., died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, at the Medicalodge in Leavenworth. He was born Dec. 9., 1927, in Cottage Grove, Ore., to Daniel Franklin and Ara Elsie Taff Franklin. He was married Dec. 3, 1964, in Reno, Nev., to Shirley Hendricks.

Mr. Franklin lived in Nevada, for over 30 years and was employed at the Nevada State Hospital as a cook for almost 19 years.

Survivors include one son, Gary Franklin, Harrisonville, Mo.; one daughter, Shannon Agee and her husband James, Leavenworth; one sister, Floreine Franklin, The Dalles, Ore.; two brothers, Dell Franklin, Roseburg, Ore., and Emerson Franklin, Parker, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother, Charles Franklin.

A gathering for family and friends will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Nevada Community Center in Nevada. Private committal services will be held at a later date under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

The family requests that donations may be made, in his memory, to the American Cancer Society in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
