HUME, Mo. -- Hume looked every bit the part of district favorites in drubbing Ballard in the first round of Class 1, District 12 action in Hume Tuesday.

The Hornets used a full court press to harass Ballard into numerous turnovers early, and had little trouble with the Bulldogs, 72-32.

Sheldon's Cody Claflin tries to split Montrose's Luke Gergler and Adam Engeman as the Blu-Jays toppled the Panthers, 52-41.

Zach Terry led Hume with 18 points, while Cameron Hinton and Clinton Irwin each scored 16 and Wyatt Hale had 14.

The top seeded Hornets advance to Thursday's semifinals where they will play Miami, who was a 61-46 victor over Northeast Vernon County Tuesday.

The other semifinal will pit Montrose and Drexel. Montrose upset second-seeded Sheldon Tuesday, 52-41. The Blu-Jays used two big runs to put some distance between them and the Panthers in the first half, then maintained the advantage after the break.

An 11-0 run to start the game and a 13-0 run in the second quarter were the difference in the game.

Drexel knocked off Bronaugh in overtime, 50-48.

Josh Modlin and Nick Judd combined for 40 of Bronaugh's 48 points, but Drexel's Aaron Gammon had 29 points, six in overtime, to lead the Bobcats.
