ANDERSON, Mo. -- Cody Thompson threw a 2-hit shutout and the Nevada Tigers erupted for 10 hits as they dominated McDonald County Monday, 7-0.

Nevada (5-8 overall, 1-3 in the Southwest Conference) earned its first conference win of the season on the back of the left-handed senior on the mound.

Thompson walked three and struck out nine over seven innings, prompting praise from head coach Jared Brown.

"He was on," Brown said. "His performance was outstanding. They were off balance all game."

Colby Shepherd led the offensive attack, going 3-for-3 with a double, triple and two RBIs.

Jerrod Alexander also drove in two for Nevada.

Brown is hoping the win will help the confidence level of his team. Nevada had lost three straight prior to Monday.

"I told the boys not to get down (during the streak), not to get frustrated," Brown said.

The Tigers are scheduled to host Webb City today at 4:30 p.m., weather permitting.
