NHS celebrates graduation

The Nevada High School Class of 2007 took its first steps into the future with a ceremony conducted in the Nevada High School gymnasium Sunday night. Valedictorian Matt Steward addressed the crowd, speaking to a class 155 strong, surrounded by family and friends.

School board member Joy Hawks participated in passing out the diplomas, shaking hands with students as they crossed the stage.

Matt Steward and Whitney Mowrey were announced as the 2007 valedictorian and salutatorian respectively during Friday's Senior Recognition Night activities. Steward ended his his four years at NHS receiving the Laurels Award for the highest grade point average for the fourth consecutive year.

On Friday, a senior recognition night was also conducted, in which scholarships and other awards were announced.
