Johnnie L. Luther

Johnnie L. Luther, 72, passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 3. 2007, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, Mo. He was born on Feb. 22, 1935, in Rich Hill, Mo., to John F. Luther and Ida Elizabeth Gamble. He married Betty I. Greer on Aug. 23, 1964, in Schell City, Mo., and she survives of the home.

Johnnie attended school and resided in the Appleton City area until moving to Nevada in 1979. He spent most of his life working -- farming with cattle, and raising crops until being employed at Nevada Habilitation for 12 years.

Survivors in addition to his wife Betty, include two sons, Donnie Luther and his wife, Judy, Nevada, and Richard Luther, Nevada; six grandchildren, Crystal Luther, Springdale, Ark., Justin Luther, Laci Ives and Shila Ives, all of Nevada, Ashli Ives and Tricia Ives, both of Lamar, Mo.; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Junior Luther, Metz, Mo.; four sisters, Rosie Mayfield, Rio Dell, Calif., Ruby Fast, El Dorado Springs, Mo., Ada Haner Jenkins, Richards, Mo., and Mary Cohen, Harwood, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Eddie, Raymond, Hubert and Elmer; one sister, Ruth; and one daughter, Daina Luther Ives.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, June 6, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Terry Mosher officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 7-8 p.m., Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
