100 years ago

Two killed by lightning

SCHELL CITY, Mo. -- A telephone message received here this afternoon states that two farmers, James Long and William Mitts, were killed by lightning during a thunder storm while at work in a wheat field this after noon.

Mills and Long resided 9 miles south of Schell City. The rain storm was not heavy here, but evidently very severe south of this city.

Class of 1947 reunion

The highlights of the two-day Nevada High School Class of 1947 reunion were the mixer and tour of the city yesterday afternoon and the banquet last night at which over 150 persons attended.

The reunion activities started off with registration of the more than 150 class members, their families and guests starting at noon yesterday at Bryan school.

During the mixer fond memories of school day chums were recalled with the display of trophies won during the class year, yearbooks and the general relating of incidents.
