The car of a missing Nevada woman was found with a body inside at a Wal-Mart parking lot in Springfield Monday.

The body has not yet been identified and a cause of death had not been determined as of press time.

Amy Meyer, 45, was reported missing by Nevada resident Barry Clark, 46, on June 30, after last reported contact with family members on June 26.

According to Nevada Police reports, the car Meyer was last seen in was a red 2005 Chevy Aveo. The same car with a matching license plate number was found by Springfield police in a Wal-Mart parking lot on the 2000 block of East Independence Street.

According to the Springfield News-Leader, Wal-Mart employees contacted Springfield police around 5 a.m. Monday morning about the car, which witnesses said had been there for a couple days, and the body was later discovered.

The Daily Mail reported July 3, that Meyer had been en route to Springfield when she turned up missing.

According to Grant Story, public information officer for the Springfield Police Department, the responding officer noticed a foul odor emanating from the car in the Wal-Mart lot.

"The officer that responded to the area noticed what appeared to be a body covered up by some items in the car," Story said.

According to reports, the car was removed for processing Monday morning and the body was then found inside.

Story said an autopsy was started at 9 a.m. today and that it should be finished by this evening and a cause of death might then be established.

Story did not know if identification had been found with the body, and said in the absence of identification, dental records would have to be checked.

Meyer's address and phone number were listed the same as Clark's in the Nevada police report. Clark was reached by the Daily Mail Tuesday but had no comment.
