Bolin won his sixth feature of the season and is currently in second place in the points standings. Street Stock driver Shaw captured the feature win in his division, his second of the season.

There was excitement in the air Saturday night at Nevada Speedway.

But sadness crept into the evening, overtaking the excitement, when a longtime racer and racing enthusiast, Vince "Vinnie" Barker, suffered a heart attack while watching the racing and died that night at Nevada Regional Medical Center.

Barker was 38, and leaves behind a wife, Michelle; a daughter, Casey Jo, and a son, Blaise.

Nevada Speedway extends its condolences and wishes all the best for his family.

During intermission, racers took their helmets to the stands and collected money for the Barker family.

This Saturday, the

Midwest Outlaw Lightning Sprints will pay a visit to the Speedway.

LATE MODEL SHOW ME SERIES: Heat race winners were Rick Wallis, Jim Fulp, Aurora and Kevin Henson, Marionville.

Twenty-three cars started this action-packed feature.

Chuck Comer and Darrin Barton were on the front row and raced side by side around the track before Comer got the lead.

Conner Ward raced up to challenge for the lead. The yellow came out as Gary Chambers, Jack Simmons and Ken Patterson all got tangled up.

This closed the field behind Comer for the restart. Ward kept trying to gain the lead and finally made the pass with Comer coming right back to take it away.

A yellow flew as Jeremy Kelley got sideways collecting Jarrod Hilton.

Ward led the field to the green flag. Leslie Essary was working his way through the field picking the cars off one by one.

A yellow flag flew as Bill Humble went into the front straight wall.

Ward again led the field to the green flag. As the cars gained momentum Essary jumped into second place.

Essary was all over the back bumper of Ward. As these two cars were attempting to pass Ken Patterson, he got sideways and collected Ward, bringing out the yellow flag and closing the field behind Essary for the restart.

Ron Johnson slowed on the track and the field again slowed for a yellow flag. Essary was in the lead for the restart. On this restart, Jim Fulp gave Essary a real challenge. which resulted in Essary going a little high in the order and Fulp jumping into the lead just as the white flag was about to fly. Fulp maintained the lead and collected the win, the trophy and the big check.

MODIFIED: Heat race winners were Rodney Sigg, Iola, Kan., and Brian Bolin, Fort Scott, Kan.

Ryan Whitworth gained the lead and the start of the Feature with Bolin and Jack Simmons right behind.

Bolin had just taken the lead when a yellow flew as Sigg coasted to a stop on the track.

Since they go back to the last completed lap, Whitworth was placed back in the lead for the restart.

Once again Bolin was trying both high and low to gain the lead lap after lap with Whitworth closing the door on him time after time.

Whitworth went just a little high in the corner and Bolin scooted right past him into first place.

Bolin quickly left the field behind as Whitworth and Simmons raced for second place. Another yellow flag as Jess Folk Jr. lost a drive shaft on the track and this closed the field behind Bolin for the restart. Bolin maintained the lead through the balance of the race and collected his sixth win of the season.

STREET STOCK: Heat Race winners were Karl Lehmann, Nevada and Kenny Shaw, Fort Scott.

This feature started with Chris Rodabaugh and Dustin Wyland racing side-by-side before they bumped together and Wyland got the lead.

Shaw came racing up to try for the lead. Shaw and Wyland scraped together sending Shaw over the tire and still racing while Wyland went spinning.

This brought out the yellow and placed Shaw in the lead for the restart.

Eddie Fox jumped into second place on the restart and as they raced for the lead the balance of the field fell behind. They scraped together resulting in Shaw with sheet metal hanging and Fox loosing a bumper. Shaw claimed the win, his second of the season.

FACTORY STOCK: Heat race winners were Cody Elnicki, Girard and Tiny Joles, Fort Scott.

In the first heat, Chris Hendren and Norman Mackley got together sending Mackley spinning and his tire bouncing into the infield.

Shawn Hendren got the lead at the start of the Feature. Tony Palmer and Mark Selsor got together bringing out the yellow flag and an original lineup restart.

Hendren again got the lead only to have the yellow flag fly again as Darren Dennison, Tony Ogle and Mark Godsey collided. Once again an original lineup restart was called.

Once again Hendren got the lead with Elnicki right on his bumper. Elnicki tried the high side and they raced side by side until Elnicki was able to gain the lead and hold it through the balance of the race to claim the win, his fifth of the season.

MINI-STOCK: Heat race winner Brent Knight, Jasper. Jerry Wilson got the lead at the start of the Feature.

Scott Mohlfeld got a solid bump in the back sending him sideways on the track.

All the cars behind had to take quick evasive action to avoid hitting him.

The yellow flew and an original lineup restart was called. Wilson again got the lead.

Wilson closely followed by Knight and Mohlfeld left the balance of the field behind.

Wilson went a little high in the corner and both Knight and Mohlfeld went sailing around him on the inside of the track.

Mohlfled developed problems and tried to get to the pits but couldn't quite make it bringing out the yellow flag and closing the field behind Knight for the restart. Knight maintained the lead and collected his sixth win of the season.
