Nevada Speedway results -- Aug. 18
The Midwest Outlaw Lightning Sprints paid another visit to Nevada Speedway on Saturday the 18th and raced along with our full card of regular racers. As we get closed to the end of the points season racing becomes more intense with each person wanting to get as many points as possible.
Next week will be regular racing, the first of September will be the Labor Day Special and then the Season Points Championship follows. There's still plenty of action and racing will continue after the Championship. We have regular nights of racing as well as many special races so come out and catch the action next week for another exciting night of racing at Nevada Speedway..
Late Model:
Heat race winners were Donnie Timmerman, El Dorado Springs and Randy Zimmerman, Fort Scott, Kan. Zimmerman got the lead at the start of the Feature. Zac Simmons brought out the yellow flag as he ended up in the retaining tires. This closed the field behind Zimmerman for the restart. Shannon Phillips brought out another yellow flag as he tried to pull into the pits but couldn't quite make it. Zimmerman again led the field to the green flag. Zimmerman led start to finish to collect the win, his first of the season.
Modified:
Heat race winners were Kevin Morrow and Box Kerbs both from Nevada. Kerbs got the lead at the start of the Feature. Brian Bolin was trying to gain the lead on the high side of the track and gained the lead.
A yellow flew as Brent Bollinger went spinning on one end of the track as Ron Bolin, Jr went high on the other end of the track and then collided with Justin Folk sending him spinning. This closed the field behind Brian Bolin for the restart. Another yellow flew as Lucas Dobbs, Craig Wood and Bollinger all got together. This closed the field behind Bolin for the restart. We had some exciting racing as Brian Hall, John Rossen and Justin Folk decided to make it three wide around the turn. Bolin had built up a good lead, which was erased as Dobbs and Bollinger again spun bringing out the yellow flag. Bolin maintained the lead and captured his seventh win of the season.
Street stock:
Heat Race winners were Andy Skaggs and Kenny Shaw both from Fort Scott, Kan.. Shaw got the lead at the start of the Feature. Joe Pryor ended up sideways bringing out the yellow flag and an original lineup restart. This time Olin Wyland got the lead only to have the yellow flag fly again as Shaw pulled to the infield and another the field lined up behind Wyland for the restart.
Shaw and Pryor got together bringing out another yellow and once again closing the field behind Wyland for the restart. On the restart Zach Marsh zoomed into the lead and left the field behind. Another yellow flew as Wyland ended up in the infield. Marsh was in the lead for the restart and again pulled away from the field as Dustin Wyland and Eddie Fox battled for second place. Marsh collected the win, his seventh of the season.
Factory stock:
Heat race winners were Cody Elnicki, Girard, Kan. and Tiny Joles, Fort Scott, Kan.. A major crunch at the start of the Feature involving Elnicki, Joles and Darren Dennison brought out an immediate yellow and an original lineup restart was called. Shawn Hendren got the lead at the start.
Chris Hendren and Scotty Bough got together but both were able to keep going and the race continued. A yellow flew as Dennison spun and this closed the field behind Shawn Hendren for the restart. Chris Hendren went spinning bringing out the yellow flag and once again closing the field behind Shawn Hendren for the restart. Hendren and Elnicki left the field behind as they raced for the lead. As the white flag flew Hendren went into the infield and Elnicki gained the lead. Elnicki claimed the win, his sixth of the season.
Mini-stock:
Heat race winners were Brent Knight, Jasper and Jerry Wilson, Liberal.
Scott Mohlfeld got the lead at the start of the Feature. Knight had just taken the lead when Brice Elnicki went spinning, bringing out the yellow flag and this closed the field behind Mohlfeld for the restart. Mohlfeld never looked back as he claimed the win, his seventh of the season.
Midwest Outlaw Lightning Sprints:
Heat race winners were John Eaton and Dave Parker, Warsaw, MO. Beau Heavelow jumped into the lead at the start of the Feature. John Eaton spun right in front of second place Dusty Murray, which brought out the yellow flag and closed the field behind Heavelow for the restart. Heavelow led start to finish to claim the win, his first of the season.
