Harry Joe Hardy
Harry Joe Hardy, 81, Sheldon, Mo., passed away on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, following a lengthy illness. He was born July 8, 1926, in Hayden, Colo., to Roy Paul Hardy, Sr. and Beatrice Florence Workman. He married Jacquelyn Joyce Stites on Aug. 21, 1949, in Centralia, Mo., and she survives of the home.
Harry graduated from Sheldon High School in 1944. He joined the United States Navy and served from June 1944-1946 mostly on the U.S.S. Cross in the Pacific Theatre of War during World War II. Following the service, he worked for Texas Empire Gas for three years until he went into farming, retiring in 1991.
In addition to his wife Jackie, survivors include one daughter, Joy Halseth and her husband, Alfred, Joplin, Mo.; two sons, Randy Hardy, of the home, and Mark Hardy, Sheldon, Mo.; four grandsons, Yancey McKnight, Houston, Texas, Michael Hardy, Joplin, Mo., Chance Halseth, Lee's Summit, Mo., and Austin Hardy, Buffalo, Mo., and three great-grandchildren, Mollie Halseth, Raymore, Mo., Alexandria Hardy, Beaumont, Texas, and Brody McKnight, Houston, Texas, and one nephew, Greg P. Hardy, Wichita, Kan. He was preceded in death by one brother, Roy Paul Hardy Jr.
Committal services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30, at Sheldon Cemetery Sheldon, Mo., with Dick Phelen officiating. Friends may call now and until 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, Mo., and the family receives friends 7-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29, at the funeral home.
