The Rich Hill High School Tigers are gearing up for Class 1, District 5 football action.

At practice on Thursday, as enthusiastic players warmed up, Tigers head coach Jerry Cornelius said he hopes for "a winning season. A record better than last year's."

The Tigers kicked off the preseason just two days after school started in Rich Hill, with a Jamboree on Aug. 24.

Fans at the Jamboree were to get their first look at the team in action through a series of scrimmages with Adrian, Appleton City and Osceola.

According to the Missouri State High School Athletics Association, the scrimmages must include three or four schools, include a maximum number of offensive plays, and do not include kicking plays.

The jamboree has become a local tradition. The first game is slated for Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. at Jasper. In their first home game, the Tigers will face Wentworth on Sept. 7 at 7 p.m.
