Skye Klinksick, 17, of Moundville, was crowned State Ambassador at the Miss Missouri Teen, National American Miss, held at the Hyatt Regency Union Station hotel in St. Louis, Aug. 12.

Skye brought home four trophies -- a finalist trophy, the Spirit of America trophy, a State Ambassador Trophy and the trophy for best thank-you note at the pageant, which was addressed to Missouri State Representative Barney Fisher. As state ambassador, she qualified for a national competition in California, to be held in November, along with those contestants who qualified in other ways, such as winners of a state cover girl title and the queen's court.

The competition featured Missouri teens ages 16-18. Contestants competed in four categories, formal wear, personal introduction, interview and community involvement. Optional contests in other categories are also offered, such as most promising model, academic acheivement, Miss Personality, casual wear modeling and more, according to the pageant's Web site, www.namiss.com.

According to its mission statement, the pageant is "dedicated to celebrating America's greatness and encouraging its future leaders. Each year, the pageant awards $1 million in cash, scholarships and prizes to recognize and assist the development of young women nationwide."

The daughter of Pat Klinksick of Rockville and Debby Klinksick of Moundville, Skye is a senior at Bronaugh High School. She is active in basketball, volleyball, the yearbook staff and more.

Family members said Skye is "so proud to come from an area that supports its youth," noting her appreciation of sponsors and all those who "helped make this a great learning experience."
