Nevada High School students selected for district choir
More than 20 students from the Nevada High School show choir program were selected to participate in the District choir event, held each year at Missouri Southern State University. Students left Nevada at 5 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 8, to audition in Cassville for the choir.
Freshman and sophomore students who were selected include Kaleob Claypool, Sammy Nelson, Lindsey Lechman, Erica Magsam, Blaik Holland, Megan Hendrix, Tayler Nowak, Mallorie Ast, Ashley coffer, Abbi Blankenship, Heather Hagenson and Makenzie Fast.
Juniors and seniors who were selected include Wendie Lyda, Emily Ricketts, Brittany Jankins, Blythe Holland, Wil Andrews Weiss, Chris Claypool, Wes Coffer, Taylor Edmonds, Nathan Rogers and Jerimiah Jones. the juniors and seniors will have the opportunity to move on to the state choir. Selections will be made at the district event and the juniors and seniors selected will perform at the Missouri Music Educators Association Conference this spring.
This year's district selections means the students have started the season with a taste of success, with students who have spent the summer practicing and sharpening musical skills.
Show choirs will be offering a pre-game tailgating event at Logan Field before the football game on Sept. 28, when Nevada will take on Webb City. A feast of pulled pork sandwiches will be provided by Mike Beaman.
Meals will be served from 5 p.m. until kickoff and can be picked up outside the gates of Logan Field.
Early dinner pick-up will begin at 4:30 p.m.
