Dr. R. Paul Drummond
Dr. R. Paul Drummond, 60, of New Franklin, Mo., entered into eternal rest Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer.
A Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, in Paul H. Linn Memorial United Methodist Church on the campus of Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo. A reception will follow in the Dealy Room of the CMU Student and Community Center.
Paul is survived by his father, Robert Drummond, of Midland, Texas; dear wife, Suzanne, of the home; three children: son, Michael Drummond, and his wife, Jennifer, of Midland, Texas; stepson, Greg Zimmermann, of Maryland Heights, Mo.; and stepdaughter, Catherine Kalinich, and her husband, Jim, of Florissant, Mo. Also surviving Paul are his sister, Meredeth Drummond-Cox, and husband, Weldon, of Weatherford, Texas; brother, Bill Drummond, and wife, Lisa, of Durham, N.C.; and four grandchildren: Madigan and Macie Drummond, Austin Boulch and Jackson Berliner. His mother, Nelle Drummond, preceded him in death.
Paul graduated from Midland High School in Midland, Texas; received the Bachelor of Arts degree from North Texas State University in 1972; was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps in 1975; received the Master of Music degree from Eastern New Mexico University in 1979; and the Doctor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1986. He believed that his education continued through his students over 30-plus years of teaching.
Paul will be missed by his loving family, friends, colleagues and all whose lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the R. Paul Drummond Memorial Fund which may be sent to The Swinney Conservatory of Music at Central Methodist University, Fayette, Mo., 65248; The American Choral Directors Association, P.O. Box 2720, Oklahoma City, OK 73101; or the Harmony Plains Singing School.
