El Dorado Springs to host chili cook-off, other events
Several events are slated for Saturday, Oct. 20, in El Dorado Springs.
Festivities begin at 6:30 a.m., when serving begins at the American Legion pancake and sausage breakfast, at the Legion Post No. 233 at the corner of Broadway and Kirkpatrick. The breakfast will be served through 10:30 a.m.
The Spring City Revitalization Group's third annual chili cook-off will begin at about 10 a.m., featuring chili prepared by more than 16 competitors. In addition, there will be old-time crafts on display, apple dumplings to eat and entertainment from the El Dorado Springs show choirs and the Circle S. Boys to enjoy.
The Wonder City Doll Club doll show, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., will be in the upper level of the old community building in the park, featuring a drawing for a doll in a hand-crocheted bridal dress.
The Spring City Arts Council also will exhibit the works of area artists on the upper level of Carl's Gun Shop, to be open Thursday-Saturday each week, through the end of December.
A golf tournament will also be held at the Gene Pray memorial Golf Course, with proceeds earmarked for a Lions effort to provide Christmas shopping to children facing financial hardship.
