Twenty-five years ago, Calvary Christian School opened its first school year. In 1999, Calvary graduated its first student, with 19 others following in the years since then. To mark its 25th year of learning, Calvary Christian School will host a special service, 2-4 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 28, in the Calvary Baptist Church auditorium, featuring best selling author, former pastor and former Christian school administrator, John A. Stormer.

Stormer left a successful career as editor and general manager of a leading electrical magazine to devote more time to writing and conservative political activities, in 1962, after having delved into an intensive study of communism.

His first book, “None Dare Call It Treason,” was a runaway best seller in 1964, selling more than 6 million copies in eight months, a record at that time.

An updated sequel, “None Dare Call It Treason â€" 25 Years Later,” was published in 1992.

Another book, “Growing Up God’s Way,” a guide for getting children ready for school and life from birth on, published in 1984, is now in its 10th printing. Spanish and Russian versions have been issued.

“None Dare Call It Education” was published in September 1998, and is a documented account of how education reforms are undermining academics and traditional values. His latest book. “Betrayed by the Bench,” details how judicial decisions have transformed the U.S. Constitution, courts and culture.

Stormer was president of the Missouri Association of Christian Schools for 10 years. Since 1977, he also has conducted two weekly Bible studies in the Missouri Capitol for members of the state legislature. He is pastor emeritus of Heritage Baptist Church in Florissant, Mo., where he served for 31 years as pastor and superintendent of Faith Christian School. Since retiring, he now travels extensively, conducting “Understanding the Times,” seminars in churches and schools.

A native of Altoona, Pa., Stormer and his wife Elizabeth are 50-year residents of Florissant, a St. Louis suburb.

Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall following the presentation.
