Salvation Army needs assistance
Dear editor:
The holidays are upon us once again. This is a time to celebrate and be thankful for all that we have been given. It is also a time to remember those who have been less fortunate.
For many years, Vernon County residents have been very generous in their desire to help others by donating time and money to the Salvation Army. Quietly, hundreds of your neighbors have been helped in a variety of ways with things like energy assistance, elder care, food, transportation and medical expenses.
This money is raised and used locally.
Our fund-raising comes from tax deductible donations that can be mailed to Bowman's Vernon County Title Co. at 208 N. Cedar, or dropped off at one of our kettle's located at Ramey's, Wood's or Wal-Mart on the weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
We always need groups to adopt a day at one of the bell ringing locations and individuals to fill one-hour slots. To volunteer, please contact Greg Hoffman at (417) 667-4721.
We also need volunteers to help with our shopping spree on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 6 a.m., at Wal-Mart. People are needed to wrap gifts and help kids shop for about an hour and a half on this morning. All you need is a warm heart. The smiles will be provided.
There is no better way to get into the spirit of the season than to help make someone else's day a little brighter.
Thank you and God bless! Vernon County Salvation Army Chapter
