New tax collection methods under way
Friday, November 23, 2007

Employees of the new ground floor tax collection office in the Vernon County Courthouse take payments for this year's personal property and real estate taxes. This office opened Monday and will only accept payments in the form of a check. The second floor office will be accepting payments made by cash, money order or credit card. Hours of operation for the first floor office are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed from noon to 1 p.m. The second floor office is also open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but will be remaining open through the lunch hour to better convenience customers until at least the end of December. Also, for the benefit of tax payers the new tax payment drop box is available 24 hours a day on the east side of the Courthouse drive through. Phil Couch county collector, recommends for security reasons that no payments of cash be placed in the drop box.
