Traditional Thanksgiving dinner

Friday, November 23, 2007
Barbara Miller, Mary Ann Hendrix, Jeff Hostetler and Orletta Simrell enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner at the American Legion Thursday. Hostetler, who has prepared the annual dinner for 17 years, said that he had more people volunteering to help with the dinner this year than in previous years. He said that he thinks that more people are hearing about the event and want to help. In addition to providing a traditional dinner of ham or turkey, dressing, potatoes, gravy, green beans, rolls and a dessert, American Legion members Slim Turner, Gene Webb, post commander, Dick Staihr and Bob Bryan delivered meals to 29 shut-ins, which is down from previous years, when they have delivered about 50 meals.
