Nevada council conducts budget hearing tonight
The Nevada City Council will be holding a public hearing and considering the first reading of the 2008 Nevada city budget during tonight's regular meeting, to be held at 7 o'clock, in the Public Safety Building, 120 S. Ash St.
The council will also hold a public hearing and consider Resolution No. 1212, approving the city's participation in the Missouri Department of Transportation's taxi coupon program.
Also on the council's agenda is the second reading of a special ordinance authorizing former Nevada Mayor Brian Leonard to sign duplicate copies of the city council minutes for city council meetings between Aug. 2, 2005, and Dec. 22, 2005. The original copies of the minutes were lost or destroyed while they were being scanned into the city's database.
They will also be considering again the first reading of a general ordinance to amend the city code to allow city employees to run for any elective office, other than the city council, or for any office that meets within the Nevada city limits.
Also on the agenda is an ordinance approving a settlement agreement with U.S. Cellular, as well as bids for caustic soda for the water treatment plant and the reappointment of Chuck Edmonds and Phillip Martin to the Nevada Regional Medical Center board of directors and the appointment of Bill Denman to his first term on the Nevada Regional Medical Center board.
