Vernon County Southern Commissioner Kennon Shaw, attorney Donald Russell and Cash Quality Electric owner Perry Cash stand behind the first light in Vernon County history to illuminate the Courthouse's American flag. Shaw began a search for funds to install the light and eventually was approached by Russell who offered to donate the funds for the project. "This is just one of the many things Don has done for us and he's always slow to take credit for what he does," said Shaw. The presiding and northern commissioners, Bonnie McCord and Neal Gerster, said they are very grateful to both Russell and Cash for their help in completing an important project for the county that otherwise might not have been feasible. Shaw said that Cash installed the light on July 31.
