Nevada City Council to take on final budget approval tonight
The Nevada City Council will be holding their second and final reading of an ordinance approving the 2008 Nevada city budget when they meet tonight in the council chambers at the Public Safety building, 120 S. Ash St.
The total budget of $24.3 million includes $4.98 million for personnel costs, $2.91 million for supplies and services, $798,000 for capital outlay, $14.7 million for capital projects, and $230,767 for debt service. The council gave its preliminary approval to the budget on Dec. 4, with a 4-0 vote in favor of it on first reading
The council also will be having the second reading of a special ordinance approving a settlement agreement with U.S. Cellular.
The council will also be considering five ordinances of first reading tonight.
The first ordinance is to declare the beacon tower, rotating beacon light, V.A.S.I. lights and runway lights at the Nevada Municipal Airport as surplus property so it can be sold. The ordinance also directs that the proceeds from the sale of these items will be used to purchase furnishings and equipment for the new airport terminal building.
The council will also be considering ordinances approving the connection of Lot 1 of the Rolling Meadows sewer district to the city's sanitary sewer system; accepting the conveyance and dedication of Deer Run Drive and Brentwood Drive in the Deer Run Subdivision; changing the zoning at 428 E. Highland St. from R-1, single family residence to C-0 commercial non-retail and approving a settlement agreement with AT&T Mobility.
Also on the agenda are bids for 2008 including: concrete, trash pick-up and base rock for construction projects.
