James "Jim" Dale Wisehart
James "Jim" Dale Wisehart, 76, Sheldon, Mo., passed away on Friday. Dec. 21, 2007, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin. He was born Oct. 14, 1931, in Sheldon. His parents were Ray James Wisehart and Gladys Dale Wisehart. Jim married Eileen M. Dunham, of Pittsburg, Kan., in 1983, and made their home in Sheldon.
Jim grew up in Sheldon and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1949. That year he enrolled at the University of Missouri at Columbia. At the end of his junior year, he joined the United States Army and served with the third Infantry Division in Korea where he was awarded the Bronze Star and was discharged as Sergeant First Class. Jim. then completed his senior year at Missouri University obtaining a bachelor of science degree in marketing.
In 1955, Jim joined Montgomery Ward and Co., in Kansas City, as a merchandiser and held various positions until 1965 when he became a Vice President of Rosedale State Bank, in Kansas City, Kan. In 1972, Jim became president of Sheldon State Bank and remained until his retirement in 1983. He later sold the bank to E. L. Bureb & Associates of Kansas City, now part of Heritage State Bank.
He was a member of Sheldon Christian Church, SheI.don American Legion Post 175, Veterans of Foreign Wars Fort Scott Post No. 1165, Sheldon Masonic Lodge No. 371, Nevada chapter 53 of Order of Eastern Star, and a member of Scottish Rite of Free Masonry of Fort Scott.
Survivors in addition to his wife Eileen, Nevada, include one stepdaughter, Koeta Bryant and her husband Tom, Pittsburg, Kan., and one brother, Max Winston Wisehart, Sacramento, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 24, at the Sheldon Christian Church, Sheldon, with Jim McCoy officiating. Interment will follow in Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon. Friends may call now and until noon on Monday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
