Authorities catch fleeing livestock

Wednesday, December 26, 2007
Authorities help lead one of two horses just captured across a busy Austin Blvd., after fleeing from a Mennonite cart carrying livestock panels they were pulling. The horses managed to escape their reigns just after 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 23, near the intersection of Austin and Washington. Vernon County Sheriff Ron Peckman, along with the owner of the horses and animal control officer John Henson, managed to wrangle the animals, one just behind Family Video and O'Reilly's and one near the parking lot of the Kentucky Fried Chicken. The owner of the animals was able to move his cart into the Ramey's parking lot until they were returned. No damage was reported.
