Extension office opens election for council members
The Vernon County University Extension Council has announced that now is the time to participate in the election of council members, which is slated to begin today.
The extension council is responsible for helping to secure funds, hire staff and give guidance in the extension programs in Vernon County.
Candidates running for council in the Northern District are: Barbara Buckles, Walker; Larry Buckles, Walker; Darcy Cable, Nevada; Patty Comstock, Deerfield; Bob Cox, Nevada; Amanda Crouse, Nevada; and Justin Fisher, Nevada.
Candidates in the Southern district are: Paula Sage, Moundville; Kent Thompson, Moundville; and Glenda Wolf, Deerfield.
Any registered voter residing within Vernon County, wanting to participate in the council election may vote at the following places: University Extension Center; Producers at Bronaugh, Walker and Nevada; Sheldon Mini Mart; Metz Grain; Emery's at Deerfield; Schell City Bank; and Vernon County Farm Bureau.
The election begins today and runs through Feb. 1, 2008.
