Tiger wrestlers place fourth in tourney

Special to the Daily Mail-- Senior Jerrod Alexander, Heavyweight, taking down Matt Kathol, Skutt Catholic of Omaha Neb. Jerrod won the match and went on to a third-place finish at the tournament.

Nevada Wrestlers participated in the 36 Annual Platte County Invitational Friday and Saturday, Jan 18 and19. Several ranked teams and individuals attended the 12 team tournament based on information from www.missouriwrestling.com. Nevada placed a respectable fourth with 199.5 points. Omaha's Skutt Catholic, 394.5 points placed first, Neosho with 230.5 points placed second and Platte Co placed third with 222 points in team scores. Skutt Catholic of Omaha Nebraska has won 10 straight Class B Nebraska Team Championships and brought 10 wrestlers that placed last year at state level.

Nevada has two wrestlers that have protected their undefeated seasons. Seniors Spenser Daniels at 189 and Ryan Herda at 215 won their respective brackets. Placing 3rd for Nevada were Seniors Mason Heard at 119, Cole Bond at 160, and Jarrod Alexander at Heavyweight. Other finalists for Nevada were Todd Brier, 135, at fifth, Trey Miller, 125, at sixth, and Spencer Scotten, 103, at eighth.

Nevada, 6 and 1 in dual competition, gets a rest until Jan 25 and 26, when the team is slated to take the mat in the Seneca Invitational. The final home meet and Senior Recognition night is scheduled for Jan 29, with Carl Junction coming to Wynn Gymnasium.
