WIC, Health Department to conduct kids' fair

The Women, Infants and Children's Program is sponsoring a kids' fair for all families in Vernon County during the month of February at the WIC Office in the Vernon County Health Department, Feb. 7 and Feb. 26, 8 a.m.-noon and 1 p.m.-4:30 p.m.

The general topic for this year's fair is Fitness Awareness for Children. Several agencies and organizations will have displays and materials available for families at the kids' fair. The following have been invited to participate: Head Start Program, Nevada Public Library, Mothers Of Preschoolers, University of Missouri Extension Service, Family Nutrition Education Program, Moss House, Nevada Regional Medical Center, Parents As Teachers Program, Community Center, YMCA, Vernon County Family Support Division, Missouri First Steps, Vernon County Health Department, and Women's Infants and Children's Program. Also, there should be representatives from the new state insurance, Missouri Health Net programs: Children's Mercy Family Health Partners, Health Care USA, and Mercy Care Plus.

At the fair, families can receive free information from several agencies on a variety of topics.
