Food pantry to visit area April 3
Community Outreach in Nevada has announced that the Ozarks Food Harvest Mobile Food Pantry has scheduled its next visit to the area on Thursday, April 3. The pantry is a tractor-trailer truck provided by the Rotary and Rotarct Clubs of Southwest Missouri. The truck will bring a total of 8,000 to 10,000 pounds of food and supplies every other month to the Missouri National Guard Armory at 1400 West Cherry St., Nevada. The Guard allows the truck to come indoors, which means that inclement weather will not cancel the event.
Community Outreach hopes that the pantry visits will assist another 300 to 350 families, especially those with elderly or disabled people in the household, or those who have been unable to qualify for other programs. Food and supplies not distributed during the program hours, 10 a.m.-noon, April 3, will be taken to Community Outreach to supplement existing commodities and emergency food distribution programs.
Families and individuals who would like to sign up to receive mobile food pantry items may contact Community Outreach in person at 229 North Cedar or by telephone at (417) 667-4339.
On My Own, Inc., is providing the financial sponsorship for the mobile food pantry visits.
