Nevada High School has been selected as a 2007-08 Missouri State High School Activities Association leadership school for the seventh consecutive year.

The MSHSAA board of directors gives the award to Missouri high schools that emphasize sportsmanship, citizenship, leadership and respect in their athletic programs. Less than 10 percent of Missouri high schools received the award this school year.

"It's a nice honor, especially for the students of the school because they're really the ones who earn it," Nevada High School athletic director Kevin McKinley said. " We take a lot of pride in how we conduct ourselves at ball games and we try to set an example that's something that both the school and the community is proud of.

"We had a very energetic group of student fan following this year, but they worked together with us and provided a very positive atmosphere and I know everybody from the basketball teams to the football squad to the volleyball team really appreciated the positive support that the kids gave. I know the administration did, too."
